Welcome everyone to the new and improved (we’ll see) Life on Tour.
If you look around, many of the pages from the old site may be found or soon will be. The picture gallery is much improved since I used an online photo site. Click the slide-show option and it’ll fill the entire screen. Tried Flickr at first but realized that only the last 200 pics are visible unless the premium package is purchased so I chose Google’s Picasa instead. 1 GB of space is offered which is plenty. All you need is a Google account and Picasa on your computer.
Past blogs will remain on the old site which may be accessed through the Additional Pages category. Of course, a category for the players sites is there and I’m open to any I’ve might have missed. Just drop me a note through the “Contact Me” page.
Like most blogs using this type of software, you may send in comments regarding my post. All I ask is that you be civil about it. I don’t mind criticism but vulgarity will not be tolerated. Correct punctuation would be nice but not mandatory. It’s just easier to read.
Now let’s get down to business.
Time to head West: I left the Mobile area a few days ago and settled in the Dallas TX vicinity. Since time was of no consequence, about half way there I chose the “avoid motorways” mode on my GPS and took to the countryside. Soon after departing I10, a golf course appeared and the vision of players teeing it up should have been last thing I would see. After all, it was 34 frigin degrees out! But no. There they were all bundled up getting in a round. Tell me this game doesn’t fry your mind.
I’ll be in this local until Thursday then move across the state and within striking distance of my Hawaiian departure city of Phoenix AZ. Cant’ wait to get to the islands and back to work.
Signed, sealed. and delivered: Mexico City is officially on the the schedule . Makes the beginning of the season more palatable.
Enough already! The Kelly Tilghman saga has gone way too far. An innocuous comment has turned into a firestorm thanks to the overly zealous, politically correct Rev. Al Sharpton.
To the well informed, the last thing on his mind is justice for Tiger (he was not offended) but just another spurious move to keep a hold on his position of leadership in the black community. Falling into the trap of the reverend’s vitriolic attack on Tilghman and the Golf Channel, Golfweek publicizes an issue with a noose on the cover! What were they thinking? The answer clearly is that they were not. The ax fell on the editor in quick fashion.
Lets hope the day will come when the term “lynch” will reference the fate of a horse thief in a late night rerun of a John Wayne flick instead of the injustices dolled out on blacks in the antebellum South. That day just can’t come soon enough for me.
Wolf in sheep’s clothing: After my last post, an email arrived offering the comments and queries of a self-described “normal business man” ripping me a new one. Everything from that bogus “can’t read greens’ story by Tom Hanson (AKA Doofus) to I should be “living in my car” since all my players had “stunk it up” to “nobody good” will hire me cause I “bad mouth” players.
I replied refuting his scurrilous allegations then found out his real motive in his next email. Turns out his name is John Springer and is a veteran looper on the PGA. Seems John does not approve of the treatment afforded to players of a certain ethnicity in my blog. I would have discussed the subject in a civil manner but since deception was used to gain my confidence, all subsequent contact form John will be dispatched to the trash bin without being opened. If he just would have been up front.

Thanks Jamie. My site has been around for a long time but not many knew about it. Wasn’t in a true blog format which was the problem. Plenty of interesting reading if you back in time via the Blogroll.

Larry…I really appreciate your site and “insight” to what happens inside the ropes. I had the honor a few years ago to carry a LPGA bag for a chatiry event and I wanted to die after the 18 holes ! I look forward to seeing your blog every week and have an extreme appreciation for all the guy’s and gal’s who carry the bag’s. When the camera’s are rolling……it’s all about the player’s, but I know without the “bagger’s” like you, none of the player’s would be where they are. Good work Larry…keep it up !

Yes, Larry, great look on your web site!!!
There is no excuse for the cover of GW.
I think Kelly Tilghman should have been canned also
It doesn’t matter if Tiger wasn’t offended
(she wasn’t talking TO him)
She was talking to the “general public”
In a position where what she says matters.
I am not an Afircan-American
(I am so white that it sometimes hurts)
But I can certainly understand the offense
(even from Rev. Sharpton)
Slavery was a HOLOCAUST
The pain of it is still here
We must not judge outrage
Listen
Change is coming
How you be????

Lonnie, Lonnie, Lonnie. You really believe a slip of the tongue deserves such a severe penalty? You think she aimed a deliberate barb at the black community? I don’t. It was a mistake That was not outrage you heard from Sharpton just the acerbic rant of a media whore. Time to move on.

Larry, congrats on the new look! I have been an avid reader fro several years. Kelly’s troubles are what results from today’s TV environment when there is not be a single second of silence except if you’re standing next to a putter on the green. On air personalities are reduced to talking heads who frequently spout mindless pablam just to fill the “space. “I’m sure Kelly doesn’t have a mean or racist agenda. She was just being a motor mouth as the times seem to demand.
Glad the LPGA is back. Great fun…good golf!
