Yesterday’s trip down was without delay but it’s getting a bit tedious with all the security checks. It would have so much easier if this week followed the MasterCard. By the way, after four calls and an email, I was still without an itinerary from Aeromexico. Finally got one when checking in. THEY SUCK!
Caddie miscues: Steve, Jamie Hullett’s looper, was scheduled to be on our flight from LA but sleeping through the alarm and an accident blocking the freeway had him missing the flight and pushed his arrival back until today.
On a more serious note, Randy, a rookie working for Anna Rawson, took a tumble on a slippery floor at the club yesterday and was dispatched to the chiropractor for an adjustment. We’ll see how he feels today.
Making the most of it: During most Tuesday practice rounds, the pins are not changed from the previous day’s qualifier so they make good targets and worth playing to, but not this week. Since there was no qualifier, I think it was left to the superintendent to cut them, just not in areas that were to be used for the tournament. Whoever picked the positions took their duty to the max and had them no more than one yard from the edge of any green! Totally useless for practice but that didn’t stop us from having a bit of fun. Dina was in the second rough cut over the second green facing a severe down slope and the hole just a yard from the back. I challenged her to make it and she did on the first try. Two holes later, it was a similar pin and she landed it inches from the cup, went up the slope, behind the hole and entered though the backdoor.
Nothin’ but net.
It’s how you look at it: On Dina’s bus trip from the airport, talk of the small field came up and prompted the comment “Yeh, another limited field.” When Dina passed on the story I quipped “Limited only by desire.”
Lucky us: With a small field, Dina up on the money list and a double pro-am scheduled for tomorrow, we were sure to be in but after checking multiple times, Dina’s name was nowhere to be found. After the debacle bestowed upon Nicole Perrot last week, a trip to the LPGA rules office was in order.
Advance official Mart Robbins couldn’t understand it either until a close perusal of the money list explained it all. Outside of a special invitation, that’s how it is determine who plays. They go right down the list and if you’re in the field, you play. The first page had all players from one to forty-eight but the second page started with fifty! Dina must be forty-ninth and since the pro-am list was already posted, we have the day off. Think they may have to check the printer?
I may go around twice: The rule about golf bags limits each player to one week per year where they may choose a Sunday-bag (usually reserved for a relative) instead of the required fuller-sized variety but this week is different. All bets were off as the severity of the terrain has added an exemption for the entire field. Dina took pity on this veteran looper as you can see below.
Golf bag or arrow quiver?
One more thing: WordPress is updateing theire softwar and the spell-chesker is misising. So, if there is a fue mispellings, don’te be too harcsh on me.

Get this – Dina was 49th in money LAST week! She is currently #62. They don’t even use up-to-date stats?

There is always a one week delay. That’s the way they do it.

Larry,
Why is the field small, do the players not like the course?
Thanks
