P&G NW Arkansas Championship

WHEW! That was a long day. Even though we had a 2 PM pro-am time I was asked to be there by ten in the morning. That’s all I’m going to say about that.

A shortage of golf carts had us twenty minutes late off the tee and a bunch of reachable par fives slowed things down quite a bit. The saving grace that made it all bearable was the group of “good ol’ boys” we played with. They could all launch it and were fun to be around.

Since it was an all Korean practice round the day before, I wasn’t sure how well Hee Young would interact with the group but she earned high marks in my book. Couldn’t have been a better hostess. Plenty of chit-chat and even threw in a lesson which helped the ball striking of one of our partners immensely.

One for the ages: Just when you think you’ve seen about everything, you find out it’s not so. As we waited on the 16th tee for the group in front to clear the fairway, one of our playing partners was casually resting his hands on the top of his driver at the grip end. An errant shot from the 18th hole hit his shaft square on then deflected into the sign behind him. At first, the spot of impact was indeterminable until he twisted the grip. Snapped the shaft in two it did!
