“How can 3 exempt players on the LPGA tour be on the alternate list for next week but a Symetra Tour player be in the field? I understand that they gave an exemption for winning the Symetra Tour event, and that’s great– but shouldn’t they take care of the so-called exempt players first?”
That query was gleaned from Facebook which was posted by one of the tour caddies re: the RR Donnelley event. The field is only 132, due to daylight constraints I assume, which doesn’t help. This issue has irritated the backsides of a few ever since this tournament began.
Switched to Yuban coffee for my morning pot o’ joe. Good stuff.
Today was my day off so I took a drive to LA for a winning Mega Millions ticket.
Then there was this:
Chinese golf course to feature green in giant bowl of noodles
Trump ‘blowing up’ Doral after WGC
Concession Golf Club vies for top LPGA tournament
LPGA eyes Baltimore-area businesses to sponsor 2014 event at Caves Valley
first of all, there is no such thing as exempt unless your are in top 80, after that its straight numbers by your priority number…don’t understand why field is 132 since daylight savings starts before the event, unless the slow play of our tour prevents a larger field…probably the reason.
Definitely, slow play is the reason.
Can’t a tournament invite who they wish ( they are the sponser, after all ), or are they bound by LPGA rules/regs once they agree to sponser an event…??
That is correct Frank, and there name is marked in the Tournament Entry List “Sponsor Invite”.
I think the sponsor is limited by the LPGA in the number of invitees, and I would guess those invited players must meet some minimum qualification to participate; e.g., scratch player or better?
I read somewhere, a while back, that a 2 handicapp is the minimum…at least on the PGA, LPGA I don’t know…
Arizona does not have DST.
ahh lorne san, sun rise in east and set in west….hahah…az is 2 hrs behind east coast for halfa year and 3 hrs the oddda halfa….so on sunday sunseta is 645pm…xtra hour for slowa golfa
Still just over 12 hours of daylight.
92 players in the Monday qualifier? That must be a record!
A mini tournament within a tournament. That might be the way to go for the LPGA. A 54 hole tourn. Mon-Wed, then main tournament begins Thurs or Frid. The can play morning and practice and pro-ams in the afternoon.
and the sponsors would be?….
