Wegmans LPGA Championship – Wednesday

My player is Wendy Doolan

Another E-9 this morning. This time the front side with Elisa Serramià and Portland John on the bag. Very disappointed not to find Caddie Master Ralph with coffee as I walked off the ninth green.  I guess the bloom is off the rose.

Thank god they topped-off the rough. It’s still going to be ugly but not as it could have been. These are the best greens all year. Super slick with subtle slopes that can fool even the most grizzled veteran.

Tee times are out and we missed playing with Cheyenne Woods by one group. She’s right behind us. Would have liked to have seen her action.

Missed the bowling yesterday due to today’s early start or my inability to get my butt off the bed. Either way, Ping Tour Rep. Jeff Heitt cleaned up with high game and series. Rookie Lexi Thompson kicked off the festivities by rolling the first ball.

I have a hate-hate relationship with the LPGA website. The more I use it, the more I hate it. Black text on a white background is the only way to go. Historical facts – regarding past tournament  – are nowhere to be found. At least I couldn’t.

It was guest appreciation night at the Dorkat. Red and white hots, macaroni salad, baked beans and cookies for desert was served-up in the office.

Looks like another limited field event is in the works for 2014. It’s called the Navistar International Crown. They took down the link from the LPGA website but not before I copied the page. It proclaimed a field of 32 players from eight countries. The venue is the Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills MD. For all I know it could just be a test page but it looked pretty real to me.

Here’s the final list of Open qualifiers.

Then there was this:

There is a guy named Rich Thomas on LinkedIn claiming to be the tournament director of this event. But his resume also says he was the TD of the Giant Eagle Classic from 2002-2005…wasn’t EDDIE Thomas the TD?

    • Cougar says:

Sharon, Rich has been running the Toshiba Champions Tour tornament for years. He was involved with the last Office Depot tournament at Trump National in L.A. He recently signed on with the LPGA.
