More On Aviara

The driving range is double sided.  From the top end, there are maybe ten spots that can be set up.  There is a small chipping area, but not really groomed for putting also.  I could not figure out the distance, but it seems like big hitters might be able to reach the lower side tees if the front location was used.  It also funnels down in the middle, so practicing cuts and draws might be a challenge.  It is the 9th hole, not the 18th as mentioned before, that is east of the range.  Players will be shuttled to both sides of the range, although it is an easy walk to the 10th tee from the lower side.

With various operations, media, and volunteer tents taking up much of the limited parking lot, almost all parking will be offsite.  Numerous shuttles will have to be running, and timing could be an issue with traffic problems.  Walking from caddie parking to the clubhouse could take about twenty minutes or so, and have to cross a street that will be busy with all the local, shuttle and spectator bus traffic.

Player hotel will be the nearby Park Hyatt, which cannot be cheap.  With its hilltop location, it has only valet parking, and shuttles could take a while, even though it is very close.  Walking is probably not an option, given the big elevation difference.

Monday qualifying will be at a different golf course, not yet determined.
