Ø Dark 30

January 30, 2013

Excellent flick. The interrogation scenes are very intense. Will probably be ignored at the Oscars for obvious reasons.

Was offered a loop on the Symetra Tour but graciously declined. Slow right now (except for Big Game Saturday) but March is a huge month here. It’ll be nonstop through the MGRC.

Five Star Review

January 23, 2013

Recently, The Beau and Fallen Oak was evaluated by golf writer and entertainment lawyer (his description) Jay Flemma and published on his A Walk In The Park blog. Broken into two parts, the Beau Rivage Hotel in the first and Fallen Oak the second, Jay comes very close to expiring his bagful of superlatives. That’s always good to hear.

His writing style reads more like a novel and may try one’s patience waiting for his conclusions to appear but that must be what his many readers adore.

Former LPGA looper Greg Gallup (AKA Tex) worked for him and received kudos well beyond his skill level (wink, wink). Don’t be fooled by his Alfred Hitchcock–like profile picture though, we all know the web adds twenty pounds.

You may peruse Jay’s review of the course at your leisure here. Fallen Oak and Beau Rivage Diaries Part 2

The forest service is performing controlled burns to clear the underbrush in the vicinity of Fallen Oak. It looks ominous but nothing to worry about. Can’t imagine what a real forest fire would be like.

I’ve been watching Masterpiece Theater’s Foyle’s War on Netflix. Love this stuff.

The Grey–Mississippi Style

January 19, 2013

Just found out from my landlord’s son that we have our own little critter GreyWolf-300x240problem here in the Magnolia State. Apparently, a pack of lobos have taken-up residence next door in the Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge. There’ve been seen prowling outside some of the residences and allegedly have attacked some pets. I was told even the police and animal control won’t go in there looking for them. My occasional pre-dawn commute to work just got a tad more exciting.

It’s been fairly chilly down here in the early morn but not as cold as some places as attested by this post from up north.

So Cold

It’s Official

January 15, 2013

The 2013 LPGA schedule is out. Players and caddies will be racking-up plenty of frequent flyer miles. Many players only pay for their caddies international flights. Could be a very expensive year for some.

The run of Hawaii-Texas-Williamsburg is a beauty but there’s plenty more. Download the PDF here.

A handful of loopers are looking for bags through Facebook. Good luck to all.

The LPGA Legends has also announced their schedule.

Open Wide

January 9, 2013

Had my teeth cleaned yesterday. Shouldn’t have waited this long. Felt like the dental tech was blindfolded. Went back today to take care of a cavity. More work to be done ahead.

They gave me three shots of lidocaine which was three hours ago. Still fairly numb but I’m going to try and eat. May be a disaster.

Watched The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo on Netflix the other day. Was about to turn it off when I saw the subtitles but stuck with it. So glad I did. Outstanding!!

Marine’s Letter To Sen. Feinstein

January 7, 2013

January 3, 2013

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime.

You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.

I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.

I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.
We, the people, deserve better than you.

Respectfully Submitted,
Joshua Boston

Nude Nuns With Big Guns

January 3, 2013

Could be one of my all time Netflix favorites. Watched it last night.

Plenty of folks blown away (mostly head shots), rape, forced drug use, prostitution, lesbian nun sex and more bare breasts than a freezer full of turkeys before Thanksgiving.

Turns out the Catholic Church was into drug distribution (I’m sure the Pontiff was totally unaware) and was forcing the nuns to cut the drugs. Of course they were bare-breasted – hence the first part of the title of the movie – but still wearing their habits out of respect for their calling.

Eventually, Sister Sarah revolts against the abuse and corruption and turns rogue, taking revenge on one and all with her big guns. Hence the second part of the title.

Spoiler alert: In the final scene, Sister Sarah’s lesbian lover pulls a Lorena Bobbit with a well aimed pistol shot instead of a knife. Has Chavo (the villain) screaming in agony (regretting his choice of profession, I’m sure) while holding his severed johnson.

I give it four and a half Moon Pies out of five for its debauchery and degradation of social values.

After viewing this flick, I was taken to memories of my childhood schooling at St. John Cantius Elementary in Cleveland. Not that I witnessed any bare-breasted nuns but it had me picturing the ones by which I was taught – especially Sisters Theoniel and Edwards (third and eight grade respectively) – in the same light as portrayed on the screen. Made me want to pop a beer or two. Nightmare!
