Canceled!

Due to over a foot of rain yesterday (one Facebook post says two feet) the inaugural Pure Silk Pro-Am was canceled. Holes were under water and roadways impassible.

The event was shortened to 54 holes. Cut after 36. Due to the conditions (see pic below). The golf course will be closed on Thursday.

Check out the hole sign on the 9th tee.

Reminds me of the LPGA event on the island of Kauai many moons ago. Twenty-three inches of rain fell that week. We only played sixteen holes one day due to the conditions.

Since my flight is sunday night it will cost me 300 for hotel sunday night plus 600 to fly 130 miles to ft Lauderdale Monday, if a flight is available. Nice HUH

if your player is not top 70, do you still get paid to cover these costs, or do you have to eat them yourself…??

      • lifeontour says:

Caddies pay expenses out of their weekly salary. Some get their airfare paid but extra costs due to changes usually come out of their pocket.

      • Frank Michaels says:

I didn’t know you guys draw weekly pay. Is there an LPGA minimum, or is a private contract between you and the player…?? if a caddy isn’t paired with a top-tier player, I can see this being a tough way to make a living.

      • lifeontour says:

No minimum but a grand a week is about standard based on what you and the player work out. Most caddies don’t do it for the money alone Frank. Life style, comradery, competition …

Seems to me that unless you have a top 20 player to work with and1 that helps pay your expenses..its time to think about another job / whether in the golf industry ot not. where you can actually make a fair living…Just thinking

Larry you are spot on about Kauai. 1989 16 holes the first day, and 52 total. Hell of a week. I think Tabby had his own private check out line at the grocery store. Good times!!!
