On Your Marks

Tomorrow is the first round of the Pure Silk LPGA Bahamas Classic. Here are a few looper/player combos this week.

“The Nerd” and Kris Tamulis; “Scraper” and P.K. Kongraphan; “Motion” and Wendy Ward; Chris McCalmont and Katherine Hull-Kirk; Johnny Scott and Azahara Munoz; Mike Carrick and Maria Hjorth; Worth Bob and Allison Walshe; Lydia Ko and some PGA guy (who didn’t know that); Jeff Steffler and a snow shovel in Rochester.

I’m sad to announce the passing of one of the classiest and enthusiastic supporters of the LPGA for many years. Her name was Rhet Wilkinson.

Rhet’s son ‘Talkin’ Jim” caddied on the LPGA and was taken from us way too early in a tragic accident on Nov. 14, 1998. For many years we memorialized Jim’s passing with the Talkin’ Jim Closest To The Pin Contest at the Corning Classic.

They’re now together once more. Devoted mother and loving son.

  1. Ross says:

So sorry to hear about Jim’s mom….

  2. Johnna says:

Rhet Wilkinson was a fine lady, who enjoyed life to the fullest. She and her husband, Jim, were always a fixture in the Kingsmill clubhouse during the LPGA tournaments there in Williamsburg despite the major health issues they both were dealing with. Rhet (and Jim too) were definitely strong, long-time supporters of the LPGA, and Rhet will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
