Kraft Counted Out

Kraft Nabisco won’t be LPGA sponsor after ’14 – Looked like something was in the works after viewing the tournament fact sheet. Only a one day pro-am this year.

Then there was this:

Park Accepts Invite To Play At LPGA’s Kraft Nabisco

Kraft Nabisco invites Nelly Korda, 8 other amateurs

Pinehurst only the start of men’s, women’s doubles

So Amy Alcott thinks the tourney should be rebranded and moved. Wonder if she let her business motives get in the way. Nothing beats that closing hole. Lincicome and Webb ring a bell, Amy …??

  2. lawyergolfer says:

frank, there is zero attendance at that event, take away the volunteers and its less then zero. At least Amy is taking an interest in keeping the event in Palm Springs..Tradition…jumping into a man made lake that is filthy..now that’s tradition! the average age of a golfer in Palm Springs is approaching 80ish..they come out and leave by 1 pm..sounds like the Masters to me. Have you ever been there? Doubt it. Lpga doesn’t have the money to run it so hopefully a Korean company will come in and rescue it like they just did in Phoenix, San Diego, Hawaii, San Fran, etc

Ps, how about 2 yrs ago where the girl missed a 2 footer to win, just like Hubie Green at Augusta. what memories!

    • Frank Michaels says:

No I never have been there, I guess that qualifies that my opinion doesn’t matter. Move it to Korea then, if that’s where the money is.

      • Frank, less then half of the LPGA events are sponsored by American companies. Just the economics of the sport and yes Asia will get one of our majors on a rotating basis I believe in the near future.

    • Frank Michaels says:

No doubt … there are 5 majors now … what is the cut off point, if Asia gets a major …??

the integrity of the game is being diluted …
