Chance Meeting

September 28, 2014

It’s been an interesting past few days. Met a guest form Canada who caddied at one of the du Maurier Classics and when I noticed an Oglebay hat in a gentleman’s trunk, found out his dad used to volunteer at The Wheeling Classic at Oglebay Park WV.

The finals of The Slavic Invitational was to be held at Fallen Oak today but a vicious weather pattern was forecast to migrate up from the gulf and changed their plans. It never happened. Just on and off showers.

I was scheduled to help my three compadres finish the day but an upset stomach and a case of the squirts had me home early.

In playoff, Engzelius wins as Runas gets ’15 LPGA card

Beth Ann Nichols@GolfweekNichols 14h Worth Blackwelder helped his player, Kim Kaufman, shoot 65 and then likely turned on his phone to learn daughter Mallory had earned her card

@MalBlackwelder finishes 10th on the money list, $940 ahead of Veronica Felibert.

Eagle wins it for Norway’s Marita Engzelius. Not enough for a tour card though.

“We hope to never see you back here again.” – @SymetraTourCBO to tour graduates

Alice Kim won the Symetra Rising Star Award. “I didn’t know this existed,” she said. Rose from 185 to 75 on $$ list. Took $1500 cash prize.

A couple years ago I purchased a MyPillow which has turned out to be one of the better buys I ever made. Gives plenty of neck support without collapsing. So, when their new memory foam/gel mattress topper recently became available with a 50% discount, I gave it a try.

So far, after two days of use, I found it’s worth every cent and that’s not hype. I always considered my mattress too hard (pressure points interrupting sleep) and didn’t realize how much better it could be. Not any more.

There’s a 60 day money back return policy (shipping not included) but I have no intention to put it to use.

If you’re looking for a quality mattress topper, in lieu of a memory foam mattress, but found the cost prohibitive, you may wish to take advantage of this offer. There are multiple discount codes available. I used Imus.

The Beau Prevails

September 21, 2014

The Beau Rivage had a four point lead starting this morning and eventually took the MGM Resorts Cup 25.5 to 22.5.

It was an 8 AM start which was three hours early than the first two days. It definitely took a toll on the night owls.

Vying For The Cup

September 20, 2014

Starting yesterday and continuing through Sunday, thirty-two contestants have gathered at Fallen Oak in an effort to claim the inaugural MGM Resorts Cup for their team. It’s the top players (more gambling than golf) from the Beau Rivage versus an alike contingent representing the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The Beau is going all in with the amenities. They even gave each contestant a pro-sized tour bag emblazoned with their name. The Beau’s team colors are blue and white while Aria’s are black and silver.

Basically, it is an effort to showcase Fallen Oak in hopes that they return and help spread the wealth to our area instead of treating Biloxi with flyover status in route to their desert oasis.

Yesterday it it was two nine hole matches switching partners for each. A two man best ball for came first with a shamble following. Today the first nine was a scramble and the second, after a partner switch once again, alternate shot. Tomorrow eighteen hole single matches will decide who owns the cup.

Would be great to see a first time winner in Prattville
