Off and Running – Literally

Worked my first loop since we reopened. It was a foursome but one guy dropped out at the turn due to the combination of heat and humidity.

Two gentlemen were from Tucson and one hosted LPGA pro Jenny Lidback when the tour used to visit during the days of plenty.

He was trying to remember Betsy King’s name and after a couple clues, I nailed it. He also asked if I knew Betsy’s instructor Ed Oldfiled. I did which reminded him of a story.

Once, after Betsy won in Tucson, she thanked Jesus Christ and Ed Oldfiled, in that order, during her acceptance speech. That was all well and good except for one thing. Ed was pissed he got second billing.

All in good fun.

Nothing like opening with a ten under in a major. Another Kim. Imagine that.

The only part I saw was Wie after she had her hand wrapped. Was it the curse of the Golf Digest cover?

Hyo Joo Kim shot 61 and was asked 4 thoughts on playing in a major for 1st time: “In Korea Evian is expensive water. I drink 2 or 3 here.”
