Louis Has Left Us

December 31, 2015

On Wednesday morning at 3:30 am, our dear brother Louis McIntosh passed away peacefully. For all you who knew Louis, you knew that he had the enviable knack of always making us laugh. To be caddying at his age was a feat that most of us could not understand.

His wife Sue asked me to make this announcement but she will be posting sometime in the near future. She has asked that in lieu of sympathy cards or flowers, you can make a donation to the Kidney Foundation in Louis’s name.

Louis’s family was his only priority on the back nine of his life.  Please keep Louis’s family in your thoughts and prayers.

Hoping For A Good Start

December 29, 2015

Well, I get to start the 2016 season in Ocala. Got the call a couple days ago. Player to be named later (just in case I get the preemptive ax) but I have worked for her previously.

I was supposed to loop for Rachael Liu (my bag at the Symetra event in Longwood) in the Monday qualifier but that looks like a no-go.

The qualifier will be held at Ocala National Golf Club which is just down the road from the tournament site, Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club. For those interested, a yardage book will be available and was created by Best Approach. Here are some possible creations according to their site. Not exactly what is required by tour pros and caddies, if that is what they turn out to be.

Well, it was bound to happen. The trouble I was having with the driver’s window of my car not going down happened in reverse. I had just paid for an express car wash and the window wouldn’t go up. DOH! The attendant had me pull off to the side and I got to work.

No amount of pushing the button and twisting the wires under the dash made a difference but then I saw a fuse box tucked way underneath. I yanked off the cover and started pushing. Voila! The window went up. Found out that’s where the one touch down relay is for the window. That function hasn’t worked for some time. Heading to the dealer tomorrow for a replacement.

Making The Move

December 19, 2015

I’ve decided to make Florida my home base and considering buying a mobile home in the Lakeland area (the location is not set in stone but I like Lakeland for some reason). Yes, that will officially make me trailer trash but first I had to take care of some unfinished business.

I still had some stuff in a storage unit in Biloxi so I retrieved it yesterday. Departed The Nerd’s place in Tampa at 4:30 in the am and returned at 11:00 pm. Wow! Just like the old days with 1K+ mile road trips. Surprisingly, I’m feeling little effects from the drive. Good livin’ I guess or plenty of the elixir of life, coffee.

Just the Facts and Nothing but …

The fact sheet for the first LPGA event of the year is out. Caddie hotel rate is $189 + tax, resort fees and gratuities but if I was headed to the Bahamas, would I care?

2015 Q-School 3rd Stage – Final Round

December 7, 2015

Ran into Jon Shield shortly after arriving at the course. He’s a former LPGA caddie and ex-husband of LPGA pro Connie Chillemi. We followed Nicole Jeray on the back nine and reminisced about his six years on tour.

Unfortunately, with only one shot away from sneaking into the top twenty, Nicole doubled seventeen. Cheyenne Woods was in the group and brought it on the back nine to get her card. Dad was there to cheer her on.

It came down to the final hole for Wichanee Meechai. She was –5 for the day but had to finish on one of the hardest on the course, the ninth. Nine and eighteen were switched for the event so the demanding dogleg left par four was all that remained to secure her tour card. All she needed was a par but it wasn’t meant to be. Made double.

Biggest collapse goes to Victoria Elizabeth. Shot 78 and missed the playoff by one. Christine Song was not far behind. A 76 missed it by the same one shot.

Upstate Jay’s favorite player, Maude-Aimee LeBlanc, breezed in. I doubt if she’ll be back on the Symetra Tour. Too much game.

Yu Liu didn’t make the cut and neither did a Scottish player who brought her caddie from across the pond in lieu of the veteran American bloke she took at 2nd stage. Not implying a thing. Just saying.

Jon sent me this photo from 1995 courtesy of Tim Atsedes. It’s from a caddie softball game in Rochester NY.

2015 Q-School 3rd Stage – Round 3

December 4, 2015

I took the day off.

So far there has been two WDs. Sue Kim took her leave after aggravating a prior wrist injury. Don’t know about Belen Mozo.

One caddie was terminated I heard. Doris Chen delivered the bad news.

2015 Q-School 3rd Stage – Round 2

December 3, 2015

Power walked 17 holes on the Hills Course. Many of the holes were protected from the wind. Imagine players on the Jones weren’t so lucky.

Rubble in trouble. Rubble’s player, Budsabakorn Sukapan, shanked her tee ball on the par 3 seventh and somehow made it through the jungle and had a shot to the green. Made bogey.
