Well, not quite. It is breakfast time and I am watching The Masters but it’s from a comphy couch in a condo next to the Ko Olina Golf Course in Hawaii.
Flew in yesterday and met up with volunteer Dave at the airport. We’re sharing this weeks digs with Lorcan. It’s an expensive week but I’m walking distance to the course and after all, it is Hawaii.
My trip started at DFW Wednesday afternoon to SFO and overnighted at the Super 8, San Bruno. Good hotel in a very diverse neighborhood as attested to by the many ethnic restaurants representing all parts of the world. Of course, I ate at Wendy’s. 🙂
Before departing, I had a Big Mac at DFW. Haven’t had one in decades. Now I know why. Simply awful! 😦 Meat was dry and no special sauce to speak of.
Watched three movies while cruising over the Pacific. Caddyshack, Casablanca and 2001 A Space Odyssey. How appropriate to see assistant greenskeeper Carl Spackler, decapitating chrysanthemums while fantasizing playing at The Masters. It was uncut so the nudity was in full bloom.
Left my noise cancelling headphones in Florida so I bought a cheap pair of earbuds at Best Buy before leaving. They’re the ones with soft tips that seal to your ear and work fantastic. Great at isolating noise. As good as my others without the heat buildup over my ears.
Dave and I were on different airlines but our arrivals were timed perfectly. Waited less than an hour for him at baggage claim. After following the scent of cheese through a labyrinth of twists and turns (temporary construction), we eventually found the Hertz counter, picked up a Ford Escape (nice ride) and were on our way.
After checking-in, a chips and beer run was mandatory and got a few other things also just for balance.
BTW, my player for the next two weeks (hopefully, you know how that goes) is Cindy Feng. There’s a 1:00 Sunday shotgun pro-am and we’re in it As usual, this event ends on Saturday so all activities are moved up a day.
Then there was this:
