Volvik Championship – Wednesday

Local amateur Sarah Hoffman is in the filed. Nothing special about that until you hear how she received the invite.

Sarah was in Florida playing a round by herself. The foursome in front noticed she had game and asked if she wished to join them after nine. Turned out it was Se Ri Pak and some Volvik big wigs. Impressed by her ability, they offered her a spot in the tournament.

Caddie countdown:

Caddie Verners Tess has left the building and turned off the light. Louie Paolini has taken his place on Catriona Matthew’s  bag.

Former LPGA pro Jenny Gleason is looping for Angela Stanford this week.

Theresa Durand is also here toting for Dewi Claire Schreefel. Theresa has started a new business organizing other folks’ mess such as garage clutter or handling the liquidation of estates. It’s all word-of-mouth and has no shortage of business.

Beth Daniel and Meg Mallon are here. Spotted Beth on the putting green working with Alison Walshe

Monday’s Open qualifier outside of Richmond was postponed until today due to rain. Some players bagged it and left town figuring it wasn’t worth the trouble. Heard out of the 51 tour players, 37 stayed behind.

Why is it the LPGA allows their contracts to be broken?

Who knows what is in the contract. The third year may have only been an option.

      • Xander says:

True, while much better than the days when events were being lost left and right. It still annoys me a bit when an event is announced and this wonderful new sponsor who loves the lpga, believes in our brand, feels the LPGA is a good fit for their brand etc. only to back out later. This is maybe one of a couple of examples under this commissioner but a sponsor backing out isn’t new to the LPGA. I still will wonder why Wegnman’s left so abruptly after a lengthy relationship.

  2. lifeontour says:

From what I understand, Wegman’s wished to continue but could go it alone. Other contributing sponsors could not be found.
