All this time I didn’t realize we were in the presence of greatness, of a sort. One of our own, Jerry Schneider (Scraper), contributed to the script of “Tin Cup” with such gems as “Winner, winner, chicken dinner.” and “Let the big dog eat.” along with the description of the garb worn by the USGA officials. Jerry knows John Norville one of the writers and was asked for some inside the ropes info. Alas, the big man was left off the credits so his contribution is just between us.
But wait, there’s more. I retold Scaper’s tale to Randy Wilkins and found out his wife (the LPGA’s own Donna Wilkins) is also tied to a movie contribution albeit one step removed. Her dad was a stand-in for Chevy Chase in “Caddyshack”. Remember the scene where Ty hit the shot over the water blindfolded? That was him and he actually hit the shot.
Spending a couple days with Country Club Mike and Bully in Columbus MS. Bully sure can cook. Mike has the nicest place. A quaint cottage with enough land to hit a few pitch shots.
