It’s over for us. Will be looking for another bag.

Fuccillo Kia Classic – Round 1 Continued

July 28, 2018

My player is Kristy McPherson.

All even after round one.

More rain makes this a 36 hole event.

They didn’t cut the greens today and the putting green for two days. Kristy said they were running a seven when we finished.

Took in a movie with Nicole Sakamoto and Alvin Okada yesterday afternoon. The Equalizer 2 was our selection and it was a god one. Denzel does not disappoint. You should see the first one though if you haven’t. It puts into context.

Never made it to the tee yesterday. A wicked storm put an end to the day but not without significant damage. The stage that was erected for the Chase Rice concert collapsed, many tents were uprooted and signs promoting the Symetra Tour were demolished. I think we were hit with a microburst.

Here’s what was remaining of caddie registration.

Played the pro-am Thursday afternoon. Plenty of fun and good tippage. They only made it around nines holes the day before then the skies opened up.

I checked our first round tee time on the Symetra website Thursday and noticed we were in the morning which was unusual. If you’re in a late pro-am, a late first round is almost guaranteed. Turned out they posted the second round instead of the first. Well done. Sad smile

After the Fuccillo Kia Classic we have a week off. Wonder were the wind will take me?

Fuccillo Kia Classic– Wednesday

July 25, 2018

My player is Kristy McPherson.

The plan was for Kristy to do a First Tee event in Myrtle Beach and come back today but an eight hour wait at the Rochester airport and her flight eventually canceled, change everything. She drove here instead.

We played a late nine yesterday but prior to that, I walked the course in the morning. By the end of the day, my Google Fit app recorded over 25K steps and ten miles!

Today we played the other side early in hopes of beating the predicted storm but it never came.

While I was checking number nine yesterday last week’s winner, Eun Jeong Seong, was coming to the tee and I had to satisfy my curiosity.

During her final hole in regulation, she blew it over the par three eighteenth by five yards and did it again on the first playoff hole. I asked if she used the same club for both shots. Negatory Ghost Rider. She hit a four iron in regulation, switched to a five on the first playoff hole and eventually a six which was the perfect distance.

When “Hills” is in the name (Capital Hills Golf Course) you know you’re in for a few climbs and this track does not disappoint. There are a handful of doozies out here but 2-3 shuttle cart rides during the tournament will ease the pain.

A new light carry bag has been on order and will arrive tomorrow. I’ve been toting the tour trunk since Toledo.

Danielle Downey Classic 2018 – Round 4

July 22, 2018

My player is Kristy McPherson.

Birdied the last to finish T3.

I stayed to the bitter end watching the playoff. Took four tries but Seong won it with a seven foot birdie putt.

Danielle Downey Classic 2018 – Round 3

July 21, 2018

My player is Kristy McPherson.

Saw more than our share of trees today but still got it two under. Good show!

Played in a two-ball with Nuria Iturrios with Alejandra Llaneza on the bag. Neither Kristy nor I remember ever seeing her name or face but she’s been out all year. We were quite impressed with her play.

After Alejandra ignored her pin duties on the first hole, I made her aware as we walked off the green. She got most of the pins the rest of the day. All in good fun I may add.

One reason for her taking the pins first was that she was always there ahead of me. Nuria is one of the fastest players I’ve ever come across. Not just in licking her club and executing the shot but walking. It’s as if she’s on the clock all the time but her fast pace worked perfectly. She’s T2.

Of course Ale felt obligated to keep up with her horse and by her own admission, was given a good workout.

Then there was this:

Danielle Downey Classic 2018 – Round 2

July 20, 2018

My player is Kristy McPherson.

Birdied the last for –1.

We were the first group off in our wave both days and the threesome of Emma Jandel, Youngin Chun and Patricia Sanz Barrio was behind us. They were behind a hole and a half both days but must have been given a warning or timed today.

They finally caught us on seven (our back nine) and proceeded to hit into us! Kristy was about to tap in her par putt on the reachable par five when a ball flew into the greenside bunker.
