From The Desert To the Pines

My player is Lisa DePaulo (aka DePaulo Creed Smile) this week at the US Senior Women’s Open.

It was a good stay in the desert and hope to be back next year.

Walked the course with Mark Scott on Sunday and even though I’ve been here twice before, only the last two holes offered some familiarity.

I worked for TV in 1996 and caddied for Dina Ammaccapane in 2007.

Basically, this is my first loop of the year (I pushed a trolley at the qualifier) and as all caddies know, the first few are real ball-busters. My stash of ibuprofen will be significantly reduced by the end of the week.

I’m staying in an Airbnb (about a mile from the course) with Rick and Mark. Nice place.

Sunday the course was closed for play and Susie Redman found out the hard way. She was on number two when someone came out and confiscated her clubs. “They’ll be in club storage” she was told.

The word went out that ten local caddies were needed which seems odd until you hear why. Word is the “locals” were not pleased with the pay scale during the Q-Series last year. They make more working for amateurs.

Played the front yesterday and the back today. The plan was to touch them all today but Lisa wasn’t feelin’ it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The caddies who attended last year’s Open was disappointed with the food at Caddie HQ. No comparison was the unanimous opinion. The folks in Chicago really went all out.
