Kansas City Championship – Round 3

July 31, 2016

My player is AC Tanguay.

For the second week in a row, the final round was washed out. We made it to the fourth green when play was delayed. Came close to resuming but another storm put the kybosh on any chance of finishing.

One under today.

The greens have been soaked to make this track playable. Hate to see it otherwise. Heard the members play it hard and fast.

Very pleasant this morning. Didn’t start heating up until we finished.

Today is your last chance if you haven’t upgraded to Windows 10 for free. The good thing is, you have 30 days to roll back to the previous operating system but you computer will remain registered and you can upgrade later. Be warned, backup your data first. Also, older peripherals may not work with Windows 10 but you can always roll back.

The shotgun with three amateurs had us finished in four hours. Sweet.

Our group consisted of Symetra Tour CBO Mike Nichols, former TV announcer Roger Twibell and Marc D. who runs some of the LPGA concessions during the year.

At the end of the day. Mike slipped me a token of his appreciation, which was nice. Then Roger reached into his bag and handed me this 4×6 card. Can anyone figure out why?

It can be yours for a mere $20, if you are so inclined. 🙂

Played the front yesterday and the back today. It seems most of the field did the same. We were in the first group off. Finished by ten.

Caddie down: At 3am on July 25th, LPGA Caddie Dave Poitevent had a massive heart attack. When he arrived at the ER his heart completely stopped and they revived him with CPR. It is truly a miracle that Dave is alive, but he has a long journey ahead of him for a full recovery.

Once out of the hospital, there will be weeks or months of rehab and mounting medical bills while he is out of work. Whether you know him as Dave, Davoo or Big Wave Dave, there is one thing for certain; you know that he is one of the most generous people you will ever meet. Dave will make any sacrifice to help others, and now it’s time for us to help him. Please give whatever you can to help make his road to recovery as smooth as possible. All donations will go toward medical bills, living expenses and costs of recovery until he is back on his feet. Thank you. Donate here.

Kansas City Championship – Monday

July 25, 2016

My player is Anne-Catherine (AC) Tanguay.

I hooked up with AC through a post by Maddie on the player’s Facebook message board.

Walked the Staley Farms track this morning and of course, the yardage books were nowhere to be found. It’s the Symetra’s first appearance here and it’s going to quite a show.

Could be the widest fairways I’ve ever seen except for a couple holes but then you get to the greens. Yikes! Straight out of Disneyland. Nothing but bumps, humps and severe slopes. Whomever came up with this design should be boiled with his own pudding and buried with a stake of holly through his heart. No offense. 🙂

It’s not a Sunday stroll around this place either. The elevation changes multiplied by the heat index is going to tax our bodies. I was lucky today. It was cloudy and not too warm. Good thing. The bottled water wasn’t out yet.

Left Battle Creek yesterday before first light. It was pouring rain that eventually washed out the final round. As you can see from my road warrior collage, McDonald’s was my stop of choice.

Leftovers from Battle Creek. An ad hoc caddie lounge was created by the putting green. It was first come, first served with only two chairs available.
