Portland Classic

August 27, 2013

One of the best caddie stops on tour. Caddie master Stan and his crew do a bang-up job keeping the loopers satisfied. Of course, the annual putting contest will be held accompanied by plenty of food and brew.

Every year, rumors of the possible demise of this tournament circulate. It’s been on a year-to-year contract and it’s well known Safeway is looking for help to defer the costs. Hate to see this long-running tradition go the way of the Dodo.

As stated in an earlier post, this is it for the domestic events until the finale in Naples FL. France, China, Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Mexico are next. Hope all my buds land a loop for the out-of-country events.

It was nice to get back to work yesterday. Oh, didn’t I tell you? We had another week off for aeration of the greens and fairways. That’s be it until the waning days of October when they seed the winter rye. Fallen Oak will be down for a fortnight starting on the 28th. I should plan a road trip
